LH Williams Elementary School
The partnership began during a discussion with Principal Steve Jones. When asked “What do you need for your school”, Principal Jones immediately responded with a list of five specific areas in which The Boston Law Firm Partners felt they could, personally and professionally, make meaningful contributions. Those areas included awarding students for scholarship, improving the physical appearance of the school, instituting a more comprehensive science program and general assistance with short-term projects, among others.
The firm partners decided to take a hands-on approach in an effort to help the school instead of going through established programs.
During the 2007-2008 school term, The Boston Law Firm has assisted LH Williams with the following projects:
Establishment of an Awards Program which rewards students who receive all “A’s” on report cards. The Firm has arranged for and funded 3 Awards Days during the school year which has included providing special tours to the historic Hay House, the Ocmulgee National Park, a tour of The Macon Telegraph given by Editor Charles Richardson, and lunches to celebrate the students success.
A landscaping project is in the works which will beautify the front of the school. This project will include walkways, a water feature and trees/flowers and will be executed by The Boston Law Firm and the Pleasant Hills community. The project, when built, will also serve as a part of the expanding Science curriculum through participation by students and teachers in the care and upkeep of the pond and plants.
